What to Expect
When you arrive, head on into the main entrance of the school, and head down the main hallway to the Commons at the very end on the left. Our main service takes place here, and much of the church gathers early for good conversation, coffee and doughnuts prior to the service. Help yourself to all of these things. The worship service begins at 10:00 am, and both adults and kids gather together for worship. We sing a blend of contemporary songs and classic hymns. You are encouraged to worship in a manner that is comfortable for you. If you want to sit and listen, or if you want to stand with your hands raised you are encouraged to do so. On the first Sunday of the month we incorporate communion into our worship, and anyone who professes Jesus Christ as their Savior is welcome to join us in this.
Following a time of worship and singing, we usually run through announcements, and then dismiss the kids (Infants through 8th grade) to Sunday School. As the kids are heading to their classes we encourage everyone to enjoy a time of fellowship. Eventually, whoever is sharing from the Word will call people together again, and begin teaching from the Scriptures. We tend towards a book by book exposition of the Bible, but occassionally we will teach a more topical series. Our services are finished by 11:30 am.
What about My Kids?
As mentioned, our children join us for the worship and singing, but are dismissed for their own Bible lessons. We ask parents to check their children into their classes at the table outside the commons. Each child is assigned a number and name tag, and will only be released to their parents after the service. We currently have four classes, all of which are off the main hallway. Our nursery is in the conference room to the left of room 16. Our Pre-K and Kindergarten class meets in the Staff room. Our Primary class (Grades 1-5) in the Career Center, and our Middle School Students (Grades 6-8) meet in Room 17. The map below helps to clarify where all of these rooms are. We have a fabulous group of volunteers who will love your children, and teach them God’s Word. If you have further questions about the children’s ministry, please check out the material at the FBC Kids Information Station outside the commons, or contact Melody Maynor.
